Sorry for the lack of updating.
Adam and I arrived this past Monday here in Tucson for our 4th year in row. Did a little upgrade this time to semi furnished. Kinda nice not having to hangout on the floor or sleep on an air mattress
Ugh... feels so good to see the sun shining!
The 3 day drive went great. Probably the best one yet.Adam did 99% of the driving (he insisted on a standard when he bought his car haha). One of the mornings he did teach me how to drive which was so much fun but a little nerve racking to say the least. I’m pretty sure I was holding my breath when I was trying to accelerate from a stop sign. Only stalled once J ... or was it twice?
Oh how I miss having internet all the time. We had so many things we could have twittered about on the drive down here but couldn’t. I did take note of a few though. One being getting caught up at the border. I swear we’re doomed every time. Like always, the border patrol hauls us in to question everything about us and what we’re doing. All seemed good until the officer asked Adam how he knew we would be coming back to Canada when we clamed we would and Adam answered, “Uh, I don’t know, you tell me” hahaha... Aaaadam!!! I’m pretty sure he just intimidated the officer by mistake. How else would you answer that question though?
-Snow squalls galore!!! Like Adams blog says... leaving the snow tires on wasn’t such a bad idea. Except now we are here in the desert with obviously no snow.
- In some States, there were so many billboard advertisements along the highway (and I quote) Adam said “man, it’s like watching TV down here there’s so many billboards”.It was funny at the time.
You know how on road trips there’s usually a type of food/snack phase you go though? Like last year it was the 2kg bags of Trail-Mix from Walmart. Well, this year it was Wasabi peas.
We didn’t even really like them but at the same time we couldn’t stop eating them. Typical haha.
After the sun would set and it was dark, we bought a huge bag of Salt Water Taffy and played a flavour guessing game... pretty funny to see how the brain reacts without visually seeing something (Apple. Cherry?, Cherry. Chocolate? Huh?)
On the final day of driving we listened to the entire “The Making of the Champion LANCE ARMSTONG” audio and absolutely loved it! Which reminds me, one of my few favourite things I got for Christmas was my purple “livestrong” shirt. And in Illinois Adam and I stopped for lunch and saw a DICKS Sporting Goods store so we went to look at other “Livestrong” clothes they had and found a white version of my already pink long sleeve zip-up :)
- A couple times we would hear a song on the radio from the mid 80’s, early 90’s which would remind us of the toys we would play with during those years...remember “Lightbright” haha or Kurplunk, the plastic beads you iron?
- At one gas station we grabbed a coffee and discovered the newest creamer (picture below) haha only in America.
So since I started typing this our internet is finally hooked up!! Whuu! Now I will keep you up to date much more often J
To another year! Happy 2010 everyone J
