Part 2: update

5:00pm

Fun ride...
We don’t have Internet up at our place so we are hanging out in a cafe in town.
Great coffee (bottomless :) )... will be buzzin later and wont be able to sleep though...

Yesterday we pre road three laps on the course. I miss having Adam to ride with :(
Still had a ball riding with Eric though. I’m looking forward to this weekend a lot more than last. I prefer the steeper climbs... the running sections, not so much.

Turtle story:
On Tuesday Adam and I were driving home from picking pizza up for the others and we saw this huge massive turtle right in the middle of the highway. We pulled over and u-turned around to save it. Turtles in our area are rare... let alone the size of this one! We are going to save it :)....
I was so excited that I forgot to grab the camera, darn! So here we are in the middle of the highway (getting dark) trying to save this turtle. We learned very quickly that it was a snapping turtle and that he was quite happy sitting on the road. TRUCK... RUN... BU BUMP! awwwe... poor little guy got ran over by a UHAUL truck and now has a tire mark across its shell.
Turtle didn't look like he was moving anytime soon, so Adam grabbed a pylon and pushed it off to the shoulder. YAY... happy ending...
When we got home I had to tell everyone how we did such a good deed and saved him... later that night Charlotte came home so I told her the story to. Then she starts laughing and says..."oh, was it half way down the hill from our old house? cause my friend just ran it over"
hahaha... that was a long pointless story. sorry

Part 1: update

1:25pm

Still waiting for the rain to quit so I can go do my 30min spin... what a week it’s bin.
I really don’t understand this provinces weather. Rain, rain, and more rain. I saw on the news last night that Quebec has set a record for the lowest amount of sun shining hours this month since 1970 something... what kind of record is that?
So Eric and I drove back here and are staying in a town called Sutton. It’s an awesome town. We decided to come a little early this week then in Mt. St. Anne where we only gave ourselves one pre riding day. We figured it would be fine but it wasn’t until we got there and found out the course had a bunch of changes. Good changes... as I’m sure you have all already heard from one source or another about the new open rock decent they had added.
I was determined to ride it but with the rain we had, it was basically a death trap. I stood there and watched people for 45minutes attempt it. Lots made it. Even more didn’t.
Knowing I was standing on my feet the day before the race for that long over one 20second section on the course was making me pretty frustrated and rushed. So I attempted it... and down I go. Nice scratch on my watch face.... :(
It wasn’t until I decided to forget about it and move on, did I realize how much more dangerous it was to walk down these slippery rock faces.
Anyways, the actual race went alright. I’m by all means not disappointed with my result but at the same time, feel a little unsatisfied. I didn’t quite have my punch back that I was supposed to have. And getting second (u-23) in home country only makes me want to start the race over and re do it again. It rained... but didn’t notice. Only took one crash in a slippery corner.

A clearing... jumpin on my bike... back in 30

Okay so the rollers were exciting for about the first 11minutes haha. I did do the full 2:30hours but man 30/30's are way harder inside. I also remember why I stopped riding indoors a couple years ago... It's sooo easy to get distracted. Ex: two bathroom stops, 2 bottle fill ups, 1 stop for something pokey in shoes, and another few stops to change music and chamio adjustments haha. And it's crazy hot inside.
Olly (1 year old pup) always gets super excited when we take him for runs with the bike so when he heard me clip into my pedals he came running and started going nuts... But then ran around me whimpering for nearly an hour out of sheer frustration. It was helarious.
So now we are in the van and on the road back to Quebec. Good ol' rain is a guarantee this weekend.
Come to think about it, it hasn't really hit me yet that there's a world cup in 40hours from now.
I also heard te course is slighty different this year so that should be interesting

Only 7 more hours of driving till we arrive... Agh.

Early start to a long day...

There's nothing worse than waking up to start a 2:30 ride for 7:30am and its pouring rain.
I don't think I have road the rollers for 2, maybe 3years but I think that's what I'm going to do... kinda excited actually :)

There's highs and there's the lows

I just finished making home-made Pad Thai for the family and eating two huge bowls of cookies & cream ice cream mmm...
The guilt of not having posted an update has finally caught up to me. So the last couple weeks have pretty much been a blur. Except for Yesterday which I spent a very long 6hours in the waiting room in the Hospital with Adam to have his knee x-rayed because of a crash he had on Sunday at the Buckwallow Ontario Cup. Nothing is broken but he is still left immobile and now not able to start the World Cups this weekend and the next. So many hours, so much dedication and money poured into this sport... our lives revolve around cycling and to have a crash take you out of the two most important races of his entire season is truly heart breaking. I know there's always worse off and you have to stay positive but it's hard to not think of how unfair things are sometimes.
Kevin Jardine at Urban Athlete in Toronto so kindly spent over an hour on Adam late last night trying to help speed the recovery process. He has an MRI scheduled this Thursday to find out exactly what ligament and or tendons he has injured.
On a happier note, I finished a huge block of hard training the other day and now just laying low for the last few days leading into Mt. St. Anne World Cup.
Although it’s nice to take a few recovery days... I almost go crazy with having nothing to do. I guess I like to keep busy and get grumpy when I can’t think of something to do... okay so there’s a million things that need doing but nothing I feel like doing.
Charlotte Adam and I spent a couple hours this afternoon trying to catch the new kittens at the barn... three adorable fuzzy orange babies. :)
Friday morning we will all head to Quebec for our 6th or 7th time this year.
Thank you for checking in... :):)

On our 4:30 hour ride to the grand Niagra Falls

Baby kitten... the runt.. awwe

What Adam thinks of cats.... haha

Transformers

Last night I was dragged to the movies with Charlotte, Mark, Eric and dad to see Transformers. Not a movie I would typically pay to go and see on my own time but to be completely honest... it was actually pretty good.
When we left the theatre I felt like I had just run a Marathon... haha there was so much action. It could also be listed as a comedy to... love Sams parents.

This morning we are leaving for Bromont Canada Cup which is this Sunday.
Iv decided to not race and just train for Nationals and the World Cups instead. Mark (Energy Planet road racer), however, is going to race... SO EXCITED to watch him dook it out with Eric :)
